on-SITE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
In addition to the in-office occupational therapy and feeding therapy available at Parker Place, we’re also thrilled to offer private, on-site OT services at Annapolis-area schools and child care programs!
Making occupational therapy available to students within the familiar setting of their school offers many benefits:
Supports children in building skills that help them to succeed in the classroom, in social interactions, and at home
Increases families’ access to these valuable services, eliminating the need for traveling to appointments
Facilitates collaboration among teachers/caregivers and the therapist to best meet a child’s specific needs
Adds value to the education and care offered by the school

ON-SITE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY: HOW IT WORKS
Planning Our Partnership
Our licensed occupational therapist, Kara Hoegerl, will meet with you to answer your questions and to plan the logistics of integrating OT services within your school environment, including the schedule and specific therapy site at your location that work best for you.
Preparing Your Teachers
Teachers and appropriate staff will be provided with a list of “red flags” to look for in their students - essentially, signs that a child may benefit from occupational therapy. They will also be given information they can pass on to that child’s parents, enabling them to schedule a completely free, five-minute screening with Kara.
Free Screening
Kara will review a brief questionnaire completed by the parents, and will spend about five minutes observing the child in the classroom during a time that is convenient for the teacher. If, based on her findings, a full evaluation is indicated, she will communicate with parents about how to go about scheduling the evaluation.
Evaluations & Ongoing Therapy
Kara will visit your school at an agreed-upon date and time to complete the evaluation (approx. 45 minutes) and any follow-up therapy sessions (approx. 30 minutes each). Parents will be kept informed of their child’s progress toward their goals, and with the parents’ consent, Kara’s report may be made available to the school as well.
ON-SITE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Is there any cost to the school to offer this service?
None whatsoever! Our goal is simply to make OT more accessible to more children who can benefit from it. The cost for any evaluations and therapy are paid by the parents who choose to enroll their children in these services.
What are the costs for parents?
Kara’s services are offered at the following rates:
On-site OT evaluation (approx. 45 minutes): $240.00
On-site OT therapy sessions (approx. 30 minutes): $80.00
Parents will be invited to place a credit card on file with our office, so that they can be automatically charged for any services their child receives. All payment arrangements will go directly through Parker Place - the school doesn’t need to do anything.
What is the school required to provide?
We ask that you make a suitable location available for Kara to work with each child. Kara will supply most of her own materials, but if any specific items are needed from the school (which would be minimal), she will discuss this with you in advance.
What if we need to discontinue offering OT at our school?
We understand that circumstances change. We just ask for a minimum of 2-3 weeks’ notice, in order to give Kara the opportunity to communicate with the parents of any affected children and offer them the opportunity to continue services at our office, if they desire.
How can we learn more about bringing Parker Place’s OT services to our school?
Please just submit the contact form at the bottom of this page, and Kara will reach out to set up a time to chat further.
