Join us as we explore strategies to improve your child’s relationship with food. With the guidance of occupational therapist, Kara Hoegerl, children will engage in fun and playful group activities each week to turn mealtime into a sensory adventure! Your child will be encouraged to utilize their five senses (sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste) to expand their comfort levels with different foods. The group setting offers valuable social interactions and learning opportunities from peer modeling.
To allow the most flexibility for busy schedules, we’ve set up this group as three separate sessions, each with its own theme and activities. We encourage you to consider registering your child for all three sessions in order to build their confidence and their comfort with various foods. However, we also welcome single-session participants! The registration below is for the June 18th session only; you may register for additional sessions on our events page.
In this session, “Food Detectives and Scientists,” children will get to explore a variety of foods through fun activities that engage their senses. Throughout the session, kids are encouraged to participate as they feel comfortable, and if they prefer to watch the other children, that’s okay!
Fun With Food is appropriate for children who are able to follow instructions and who can sit at the table for the majority of the session time. If your child requires more individualized attention or is not ready for a group setting, we also offer individual feeding therapy. (Note: We are a neurodiverse clinic and are happy to accommodate your child. However, if your child requires 1:1 support, please contact us before registering to determine the best option for your child to be successful.)
