Psychoeducational Assessments
Psychoeducational assessments are an invaluable tool in identifying and understanding a number of factors that may be affecting your child academically, mentally, and behaviorally. Generally, when parents seek out an evaluation of this type, they have a specific question in mind, which the assessment can answer.
Examples of what a psychoeducational assessment can accomplish include:
Diagnosing ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disorders, and mental/behavioral health disorders
Identifying a child’s specific learning profile, and the learning environment that best supports their success
Determining your child’s strengths and weaknesses when it comes to memory/recall, executive functioning, and information processing
Demonstrating how factors such as motivation, confidence, anxiety, and/or depression may be affecting your child’s academic performance
Evaluating your child’s overall cognitive aptitude for the purpose of school admissions or gifted program participation
Psychoeducational assessments involve a comprehensive process, which generally includes the following:
An initial consultation
2-3 testing sessions, approximately 2-3 hours each (with breaks)
An in-school observation, if needed
A final consultation to review results and recommendations
Dr. Kimberley Palmiotto’s fee for the extensive assessment process is $250 per hour, with most assessments taking a total of 10-15 hours. A more specific plan based on your objectives, as well as your child’s age and specific needs, will be presented at your initial consultation.
Please note: as of April 2021, Dr. Palmiotto’s schedule is filled; however, we are keeping a waiting list of families who are interested in scheduling an appointment when it becomes available! To be added to the waiting list, or if you have questions, please contact us!
