Group Medical Visits

As part of our commitment to supporting kids’ lifelong health, we are thrilled to bring The Cleveland Clinic’s group visit model here to Parker Place. Group visits are a perfect fit for our lifestyle medicine patients, who often are working toward similar goals. By meeting together in small groups with one of our medical providers, participants enjoy a number of benefits:

Age-Appropriate Healthy Lifestyle Education

Group visits are segmented by age (we have groups for elementary schoolers as well as middle schoolers/high schoolers), and kids participate in engaging activities and interactive discussions on a variety of health-related topics: nutrition, exercise, sleep habits, stress management, mental well-being and more.

Peer Support & Socialization

Kids and teens have the opportunity to discuss and learn about their health among like-minded peers, which builds a sense of teamwork and camaraderie. It’s also an opportunity for kids who may previously have felt isolated by their health conditions to socialize with others who experience some of the same challenges.

Empowerment & Accountability

Our goal is to inspire our group visit participants to take charge of their health, and one way they learn to do that is by having the chance to practice talking about their health concerns in a safe space like our office. They also are asked to report on their progress toward the goals they previously set, and to commit to new goals as part of each group visit. As a group, participants get to share their successes and also offer feedback on how to overcome obstacles.

Of course, group medical visits are just one way we help our patients work toward better health - they are intended to supplement, not replace, the one-on-one appointments between your child and their provider.
