We've Missed You! Check Out Our Updated COVID-19 Protocols at Parker Place!
The COVID-19 pandemic has made this year one of unprecedented stress and uncertainty for most families, and things like non-urgent medical visits understandably had to be set aside for a while. We're happy to say that our office is fully open and our providers are once again seeing patients here at Parker Place. We are closely following the CDC's recommendations for best practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which you can read more about in detail on our website. (Note: we will continue to update that section of our site with any changes in our COVID-19 plan!)
Why Your Child’s Visits Are So Important
Ensuring the consistency of your child's medical care remains our number one priority, and we want to do all that we can to make you feel comfortable bringing your family back to Parker Place.
For kids who see us for lifestyle medicine, including managing their weight, keeping up with their appointments helps to maintain their momentum in forming healthier habits. (And yes, we completely understand that being quarantined caused many of us to fall off the wagon, so to speak, when it comes to nutrition, exercise, and sleep!) Regardless of whether your child has continued making strides or has stalled in their progress, we're here to support them in building a foundation for lifelong health. That includes helping them to adjust their routines amidst this "new normal," prepare for upcoming changes with school and activities, and offering resources and guidance for getting back on track if needed.
For those with endocrine conditions, managing their health through regular appointments is especially important. Seeing your child on the schedule recommended by their provider here at Parker Place is an essential part of determining proper medication dosage, minimizing symptoms, and preventing worsening medical problems.
Also, in case you missed the news, we've expanded our offerings here at Parker Place to provide even more wellness support for kids and families. Dr. Kimberley Palmiotto, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, is available to help kids and teens to manage stress and to cope with the challenges of ADHD, autism and anxety. In addition to individual counseling for clients aged 3-21, Dr. Palmiotto offers counseling for families who want to work together toward a happier and more harmonious home life.
How We’re Keeping You Safe & Healthy
Here are some of the precautions we're taking to protect your health and safety:
We are spreading out our appointments to avoid having multiple families in the office whenever possible.
All families with appointments are contacted to answer several health screening questions prior to coming in.
Families are checking in remotely from their vehicle to streamline our front desk operations and are taken directly to the exam room when they enter the office.
We have updated our office to create multiple, widely-spaced waiting areas and temporarily remove communal activities such as toys, books and the gym playspace.
Medical providers are currently the only persons with direct physical contact with patients, including taking vital signs, conducting exams and performing procedures.
We are thoroughly sanitizing all equipment, furnishings, surfaces, and door handles between each patient appointment.
Finally, everyone on our team is, of course, committed to performing regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizer, and consistent mask wearing.
Labs & Imaging During a Pandemic: FAQ
Is it safe to have labs and imaging done right now?
You are not alone in asking! Actually, many of our patients have had labs and imaging done over the past few months and have reported that their experience was a good one. Just like Parker Place, most medical facilities are taking extensive precautions to keep your family safe. We strongly encourage you to contact your preferred lab or imaging center directly to discuss any concerns you may have.
What if I want to wait a little longer?
Of course, that is entirely your choice, and we want you to feel good about the decisions you make about your child's health. The urgency of any particular lab test or medical imaging depends on your child's health condition(s), so if you would like to discuss when the testing should be done, please contact our office and we'll be happy to help.
My child's testing was ordered a long time ago and I've since lost the paperwork - what should I do?
This happens all the time, and we're glad to help! Just reach out to us via email, text or phone, and we'll update the orders if needed and send you a fresh copy.
